Landmark Estates

October 2021

Landmark Estates are delighted to announce that their planning application for 23 new residential properties at the former SEB Depot site, Weymouth has been approved by Dorset Council (25th October).

Known as ‘Land off Westwey Road’ the proposal will regenerate 0.38ha of brownfield land to deliver a mix of family home types, consisting of 16 x 3 bedroom dwellings and 7 x apartments with on-site parking and gardens. The town centre of Weymouth, with its associated shopping, recreation and tourist facilities are all within walking distance.  A number of the new dwellings will also benefit from attractive views over the marina and surrounding historic townscape.

Phil Holdcroft, Planning Manager said:

“The former depot site has been vacant and underused for over 20 years.  Its development has been both challenging and protracted given a historic, hazardous substance licence associated with the previously adjacent gasholders. Only after that this license was revoked have we been able to move forward.

However, once submitted, the scheme’s high-standard of architectural design, sensitive layout and opportunities for street planting (prepared by Brightspace Architects and Aileen Shackell Landscape Design) was very well received by the Council and their key consultees.   We would like to thank all of our team of consultants for their valued input in addressing all known technical issues and also local people for their patience and support.  We can now look forward to delivering this exciting development”.
