Puddletown First SchoolPuddletown First School, High Street, Puddletown, Dorset DT2 8RY
PLANNING APPROVED MAY 2016
Acquired August 2015, redundant Puddletown First School in High Street Puddletown. Built in 1863 these beautiful Grade II listed Gothic Style buildings had until recently been used as a popular local school. Since the construction and opening of the new school buildings in Puddletown these buildings have now been deemed surplus to requirements.
In depth consultations with the local authority as well as a number of Statutory consultees resulted in a scheme being submitted which was approved by delegated powers by the local authority at the first time of asking.
The approved scheme provides for the sensitive conversion of the Grade II listed building to form four houses and a new build house attached onto the Eastern flank of the main building which will be constructed using carefully matched and approved materials. Careful consideration has been given the landscaping of all of the grounds but in particular to the front aspect.
A mixture of two and three bedroom houses have been approved and the units are expected to be released to the market towards the end of this year. James continues ‘Having completed a number of schemes involving Grade II listed buildings over the past few years we look forward to applying expertise on this exciting project’.
