Prizes and recognition for the Sway Co-op poster design competition.
On Wednesday 15th July, representatives from Landmark Estates, the Co-op and Sway Parish Council were in attendance to present prizes to the winner and three runners-up of the Sway Junior Parish Council poster design competition.
Colin Hayward, Co-op Area Manager was on hand to present a magnificent child-friendly hamper and gift voucher to the winner, 10 year old Freya Marnell. Co-op goody boxes and a gift voucher were presented to two of the runners up: Cllr Louise Clark, aged 11 and Cllr Thomas Clark, aged 8. Unfortunately, 9 year old Cllr Aaron Marshall was unable to attend but Cllr (and Vice Chair) Dawn Bampton from the Parish Council was on hand to accept Aaron’s prize on his behalf.
After presenting the prizes Colin said “The Co-op is very excited to be launching a store here in Sway and we have been blown away by the level of creativity shown by youngsters in the area. We couldn’t have wished for a better welcome to the area and look forward to serving our prize-winning artists, along with the rest of the community when we open our doors later this year.”
Landmark Estates’ Managing Director, James Bradley also presented a £500 cheque to the Junior Parish Council.
James Bradley commented “The children’s design competition was a great way to involve the junior members of the local community. They were invited to express their ideas on what the new Co-op building might look like. By showcasing their colourful and creative drawings on the site hoardings, local residents have been able to enjoy their vibrant designs whilst the Co-op building is being completed. The awards ceremony was a great opportunity to meet the winners and see them receive their prizes. They should be very proud of their artistic skills!”
Sway’s new Co-op will launch this winter following a six figure investment from the convenience retailer. Set to create around 15 jobs for local people, it will run on 100% renewable electricity and have a focus on fresh, heathy produce, award winning wines, ready meals and pizzas, free-from and vegan products and everyday essentials.
The new store will also provide a funding boost locally through its Membership scheme. Members receive a 5% reward on purchases of own brand products, and the retailer donates a further 1% to community causes.Share This
