Landmark Estates has secured planning permission for another mixed-use development. The site is in the attractive village of Hermitage, West Berkshire and falls within the designated North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Historically industrial uses have taken place on-site and it is currently used for car sales and repair. The approved scheme comprises a modern convenience ‘top-up’ retail store for the village and 10 new dwellings. Planning Manager, Phil Holdcroft said “The scheme will provide the local community with a modern and accessible local shop and a choice of quality homes without any loss of valuable countryside land. We are particularly pleased that Planning Committee Members, unanimously supported the proposal and that they acknowledged the scheme would be beneficial to the vitality and viability of the village”.
Landmarks Head of Acquisitions, Iain Coates, says “This is another example of Landmark being able to deliver a viable use on a challenging brownfield site, taking account of affordable housing requirements. I would like to thank the team and our external specialists (including architects, viability consultants and highways consultants) who have worked collaboratively with the Council to achieve secure a prompt planning approval”.
